The Israeli government and Trump are dangers to world peace and democracy.

Misinformed people may have thought that the "comedy" Trump staged in Egypt with the signing of his plan on October 13 would end the Gaza conflict. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Various members, commentators and other people from the Spanish right and extreme right are dedicated to constantly attacking the defenders of the Palestinian cause or the members of the Global Sumud Flotilla, with poor stories and arguments, sometimes with falsehoods or lies, directly, just as in the 1930s many defended the Nazis.

The truth is that since its creation, Israel has ignored international law and human rights, acting as a terrorist and murderous state. To illustrate this, on May 20, 1948, Swedish diplomat Folke Bernadotte accepted a UN-mandated peace mission to Palestine, in response to the unacceptable Israeli actions of expelling Palestinians from their lands. It must be said that this diplomat had been decorated for saving many Jews from the clutches of the Nazis during World War II. The Israelis warned him not to dare go and sent him various messages that he would be killed, but Bernadotte, true to his commitment, landed at Kalanda Airport on September 17, 1948, despite having been warned that his plane could be shot down. He arrived in Jerusalem and, while returning to his hotel after various meetings, traveling in marked UN vehicles, an Israeli military jeep blocked his path and members of the Zionist paramilitary group Lehi murdered him; the perpetrators were never arrested.

At midnight on October 16, the Israeli army violently stormed the headquarters of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) in Nablus, West Bank, after having besieged the Fire and Civil Defense building. They searched the PGFTU offices, stole files, and took hostages, in a further violation of international law and the fundamental right to freedom of association.

The US has imposed a so-called peace plan that ignores the Palestinians, disrespects UN resolutions, doesn't guarantee the return of stolen lands, doesn't respect the most basic principles of international law, and doesn't even respect Israel, killing 97 Gazans since the ceasefire, wounding "the fight is not over," and "will disarm hell." And it does this because it's backed by someone who fancies himself an absolute king who can throw feces on protesters who oppose his policies.

There will be no peace as long as Israel, with the support of the US and the complicity of the international community, continues to disregard human rights, international law, and UN resolutions. Furthermore, while this happens, democracy is increasingly at risk, because if it's the Palestinians today, tomorrow it could be Venezuelans, Colombians, or any other protesting group. Mark Bray, a professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey and an expert on anti-fascist movements, has been forced into exile in Spain in the face of death threats.

The Palestinian cause is the cause of humanity, and especially of all workers, because within the authoritarian regimes of Netanyahu, a war criminal who is also facing several corruption charges in his country, and the "absolutist king" Trump, labor rights and class-based unions have no place. Therefore, it is important for the labor world to get involved in defense of the Palestinian cause and to continue mobilizing, activating Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns in Israel, which were so successful against the Apartheid regime in South Africa, and demanding that governments and companies sever ties with Israel and bring Netanyahu to justice. The stakes are high.
