PalmaNew clash between the Government and Aena. After denouncing a "covert expansion" of Palma airport and taking a stand against an expansion in the Islands, the Executive has rejected the public company's plans to build a photovoltaic park in Son Bonet.

President Marga Prohens announced during the second day of the general policy debate in Parliament that the Executive has rejected the project, based on environmental assessment criteria. She said this during the reply turn to the left-wing parties, in which she took the opportunity to criticize the "hypocrisy" of the PSIB in the fight against climate change. During her speech, she accused the left of promoting airport expansions in the Balearic Islands.

Thus, she told the PSIB spokesperson, Iago Negueruela: "I have a task for your masters," and announced the Government's halt to Aena's plans. She also attacked the Spanish government's initial veto of the bill by MÉS per Mallorca, which obtained the support of the PP, to take airport co-management to Congress.

Precisely this past Tuesday neighborhood representatives registered 2,200 allegations before the General Directorate of Industry against Aena's new project, which has redone the previous one, in order to create a large solar photovoltaic park in Son Bonet. A very controversial project that has generated significant controversy, as the residents, organized mainly through the Pulmó Verd platform, consider it "unacceptable that a company with public capital destroys a green area historically used by the neighbors instead of using the thousands and thousands of square meters of built-up area that Aena has at Son Sant Joan to generate clean energy," said its spokesperson, Manel Gomáriz.
