Palm"Mallorcan identity isn't a gift or an inheritance; it's earned by respecting our identity, idiosyncrasies, and interests." With this message, the new coalition of El Pi and Som Mallorca, called Por Mallorca, was presented this Friday in Palma. "There are no other people in Mallorca," said one of its promoters and coordinators, Joan Serra, who vowed to "defend the residents and ensure they act like true Mallorcans." The group intends to run in the next elections. The general secretary of El Pi, Tolo Gili, expressed the group's desire to regain representation in the Balearic Parliament and even reach the Spanish Congress. "We are a project that wants to shake things up in Madrid, to get rid of these 'Teresas,'" he said, referring to the national parties.

"Until now I was a moderate, calm, and complacent Mallorcan, but today I declare myself radically Mallorcan," Gili said. "We will stand up to whomever is necessary so that politics has a single objective: Mallorcans first," he asserted. While Serra criticized the "intensive economic model" that, in his opinion, has led the Islands to demographic saturation, the president of Som, Joan Lladó, denounced the "irresponsible naiveté of the left." The former leader of ERC in the Islands delivered an anti-immigration speech: "28% of new Mallorcans were born abroad, and there are studies that say that population replacement begins at 20%." He continued: "Ghettos are being created in Mallorca; this is scientific." In this regard, he called for "modifying the economic model" and "eliminating the pull factor" for foreigners: "If you want aid, you have to have been here for 15 years." Even so, Lladó avoided defining the party ideologically beyond calling for "embracing Mallorca as a political option." "Neither to the left nor to the right, we must move forward," he said. He also took a swipe at Vox. After saying that "residence places are more expensive here than in Extremadura," he asked if Santiago Abascal's party would solve the problem. "Abascal, instead of residence places, will give us bullrings," he declared, receiving applause from the attendees, many of whom were members of El Pi. At the end of the event, Lladó and Gili, presidents of both parties, signed the founding manifesto and presented the coalition's corporate image. The presentation concluded with the Mallorcan anthem. The BalangueraIn addition, a Mallorcan flag approximately six meters high was unfurled.
