19-year-old youth dies stabbed in Son Gotleu

PalmaA 19-year-old man died this Sunday evening after being stabbed on Indalecio Prieto street, in the Palma neighborhood of Son Gotleu. The victim was transported in critical condition to Son Espases University Hospital, but ultimately died during emergency surgery.

The incident took place around 11:00 PM in a bar in the Son Gotleu neighborhood. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found the young man, of Algerian nationality, on the ground, in cardiorespiratory arrest and with a stab wound to the abdomen, according to the 061 emergency service.

Paramedics performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers and managed to get him to regain vital signs. Once stabilized, they transported him in critical condition to Son Espases. Upon arriving at the hospital, the young man was immediately sent to the operating room, where he underwent emergency surgery in an attempt to save his life. However, he eventually died due to the severity of his injuries.

At the time of the stabbing report, National Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested a person accused of homicide. According to findings during the investigation, the detainee and the deceased man began arguing inside a bar in Son Gotleu, and subsequently, the detainee pulled out a large knife and stabbed him several times, which caused the injuries that later led to his death.

When the National Police officers arrived at the scene, the accused had fled, but thanks to the descriptions of the suspect, also of Algerian nationality, provided by witnesses to the attack, they were able to locate and arrest him with ease.

Now, the officers are trying to determine the motives that triggered the argument and are also trying to locate the weapon used in the attack, which the detainee has not yet handed over and has refused to say where it is.
