PalmaThe Pollença City Council has condemned the acts of vandalism that have affected various elements of the municipality's heritage, especially in the surroundings of the Joan March gardens and the Convent of Sant Domingo. The graffiti, of different sizes and colors, has affected both sculptures and architectural elements in the area.
Among the damaged items are the sculptural bust of Dionís Bennàssar, the sculpture Mallorcan Library, by Jakober, and various architectural elements of the tavern and the Desbrull tower. The City Council has expressed its rejection of these acts and warned that, beyond the direct aggression against the heritage, the graffiti also damages the image of the urban environment and affects the citizens.
The Heritage and Museum departments have appealed to civic duty and citizen collaboration to prevent these behaviors from repeating. They also recalled that the cleaning and restoration tasks for the affected elements require professional interventions and involve an economic cost that ends up being borne by the public. Despite the damage, the City Council has reported that it has already launched various actions to return the affected heritage elements to their original state.
