The tractor driver involved in the fatal accident in Campos is being investigated for failure to provide assistance.

PalmThe Civil Guard is investigating the driver of the tractor involved in the accident that occurred this Saturday at 2:20 a.m. in Campos, in which a 29-year-old motorcyclist died, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of failure to render assistance.

According to sources close to the investigation, the tractor driver was no longer there when officers arrived at the scene of the accident. For this reason, officers began searching for him and found him hours later, at 6:30 a.m., at which time he was subjected to alcohol and drug tests.

The investigation, which has been taken over by the Civil Guard, remains open pending the results of the deceased motorcyclist's autopsy, which are expected to determine whether the motorcycle driver died instantly. It should be noted that the fatal accident occurred this Saturday at kilometer 42.300 of the Ma.-19 highway (Palma-Portopetro), in the municipality of Campos, when the motorcycle collided with the tractor.

In the incident, the motorcycle driver died and the tractor driver was unharmed. Both vehicles involved in the accident suffered significant damage. According to preliminary investigations by the Civil Guard, the cause of the accident is likely a distraction or inattention on the part of the motorcycle driver, as there are no signs of braking or skidding.
