PalmIt's hard to say if she was more of a Harry Potter fan—she'd queue up at bookstores whenever a new book in the series came out—or a Backstreet Boys fan—she saw them in concert not too long ago. She was always clowning around and loved imitating Betty la Fea (Ugly Betty). From a young age, she was part of the choir at the Teatre Principal in Palma, and when she wanted to study at the Institut del Teatre, no one was surprised: both her older brother and sister had already done so, so the path was already laid out for her. We're talking about the actress Esther López (Palma, 1986) with her sister, Mariaje.

"I'm seven years and a bit older than her, and our brother, Pablo, is ten. She was by far the youngest, and for us, it was a wonderful gift. I chose the name Esther: I got it from the comics of..."Esther and her world "I had a friend." Mariaje remembers Esther's baby days with great tenderness: "They only let me hold her while sitting on the sofa, and always with my parents there. But I would sneak away: I would go to the crib room and, without them seeing me, I would pick her up and just stare at her. I thought she was the most precious thing in the world."

She recounts that the actress was a very funny doll, and says that this runs in the family: "Comedy has always been very present in our house; we're big on jokes. Every year at Christmas, there were performances!" At Christmas, Esther would also ask for the soundtracks from the Harry Potter films, a saga that marked her adolescence, both the books and the movies.

In fact, Mariaje emphasizes that Esther was a voracious reader from a young age: at home, they had collections of The five, Malory Towers and Santa Clara, by Enid Blyton; The Hollister familyby Andrew E. Svenson, among others. "I will never forgive him for not reading it." Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver (Michael Ende). "He wouldn't listen to me!" the sister says, laughing. Over the years, she says, he came back a little. chav"She got blonde highlights and wore tracksuits. She listened to Estopa, La Cabra Mecánica, and the Spice Girls. But her favorite band has always been the Backstreet Boys."

Singing was a point of connection with the sisters when they still hadn't defined their tastes: "It was our turn to clean the kitchen. I had already shared this task with their older brother when Esther was little. And what we did was sing to make it more fun, playing around, goofing around."My donkey has a headache…'I remember we used to sing together. We had a great time together, although afterwards we also fought like crazy, as always happens between siblings!'

It's fascinating to hear Mariaje speak so lovingly of Esther. Grand words flow from her lips: "She's wonderful, my children adore her. And she's a very good person, funny, silly. With a great heart. She's very empathetic, she has a great ability to perceive other people. Sometimes I think that all that joking and fun is a form of protection, because she's very sensitive and perceptive." In fact, she says, Esther is a bit of a witch: "She thinks of someone and that person goes into labor, for example. And I remember when my youngest son was very sick, I called his partner and, before I had even finished telling her what was wrong, she suddenly knew something had happened."

Esther, who won over a whole generation with the protagonist of the series It never snows in CityShe is part of the La Calòrica theater company, one of the cornerstones of contemporary Catalan theater. "I think having a company like this is a privilege, because it's not easy to dedicate yourself to this. And she's doing well because they can do what they love. And Esther always has to be doing things she enjoys."
