An agricultural fire in Inca mobilizes resources and a helicopter amid a maximum alert for forest fires
The fire broke out this Saturday in the Son Frare area, while the Balearic Islands maintain fire alert 4 activated due to the high risk of fire
PalmaAn agricultural fire declared this Saturday midday in the Son Frare area, in the municipality of Inca, has led to the mobilization of four forest firefighters, two environmental agents, and an aerial unit to tackle the flames. According to the Balearic Institute of Nature (Ibanat), the personnel have been working on extinguishing tasks since the fire was detected.
The fire broke out on a day that was particularly delicate regarding the risk of forest fires. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment has activated the maximum level of danger, fire alert 4, throughout the Balearic Islands this Saturday, due to high temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
For this reason, the Government has reminded citizens that burning in forest areas is prohibited and has asked them to consult the current restrictions on the use of fire before carrying out any activity that may pose a risk of ignition.
According to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), this Saturday will be mostly clear skies, with maximum temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees, which could occasionally reach 36 degrees. Furthermore, the maximum ultraviolet radiation index is 9, a very high value, while the wind is blowing from the north, with coastal breezes in the Pitiusas and without ruling out some in the south of Mallorca.
For the moment, Ibanat has not reported on the affected area or the causes that would have originated the fire.
