PalmThe town councils of Banyalbufar and Esporles have demanded that the public authorities ensure that the dry docks at Puerto del Canónigo do not collapse and that they are preserved as part of the cultural and scenic heritage of the Tramuntana mountain range.

This is what both municipalities are demanding this Wednesday at an event, which included a presentation by Casimir Gòdia about the Ca l'Arròs boatyard and the reading of the manifesto "Let's save coastal heritage, let's save the boatyards."

During the event, the two municipalities' commitment to preserving these traditional structures linked to fishing and seafaring activities on the northwest coast of Mallorca was emphasized. Therefore, according to the Esporles City Council, the city councils, the Mallorca Council, the Spanish government, and the Spanish government have been urged to establish effective channels of cooperation and coordination to ensure that these sheds will not be demolished.

This collaboration, in their opinion, should include legal, technical, and heritage actions to ensure their protection in the short, medium, and long term. They also demanded that the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge immediately revoke the demolition orders and suspend any pending administrative actions while the regional legislation is developed.

Finally, they have asked the Government to ensure that the new Balearic coastal law includes the dry docks at the port of Canónigo in the island's registers of traditional coastal heritage and that it includes an express provision for buildings that prevents their demolition and guarantees their conservation and traditional use.
