Bus driver investigated for increasing alcohol levels fivefold in Petra
The man was driving a vehicle loaded with people coming from a wedding.
PalmThe Civil Guard is investigating a 53-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety. The bus he was driving to Petra was immobilized.
In a press release, the Civil Guard reported that the events date back to the early hours of Saturday, October 18, when a Civil Guard traffic patrol from Manacor was conducting a breathalyzer check near Petra.
The officers were randomly selecting vehicles when they stopped a bus loaded with passengers returning from a wedding. The Civil Guard officers realized that the driver was clearly showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol, so they proceeded to administer a breathalyzer test.
Once this was done, they found that the result was five times the maximum speed allowed for this type of driver, so they immobilized the vehicle and investigated the driver as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, which can carry prison sentences of three to six months and deprivation of the right to drive. In addition, he was found to have serious transport violations such as not carrying a driver's card and failing to respect the established rest periods.
