PalmThe Caimari Residents' Association has launched a petition to denounce the dangerous and disruptive situation the town has been experiencing since 2008 due to illegal motorcycle and car races. Residents say these activities are particularly frequent at night and on weekends, generating noise, severely disrupting sleep, and posing a real risk to public safety, especially for children and the elderly.

According to residents, the straight stretches of road that run through the village are frequently used by reckless drivers who organize races, endangering everyone who passes by. This situation is especially worrying for a village with only 850 registered inhabitants, as many residents of the surrounding area also suffer the consequences of these practices. In an interview with IB3, residents recalled a fatal accident that occurred in the same spot 18 years ago and insisted they don't want any tragedy to be repeated. "There was an accident, and I was the first to witness it," explained one resident. "I went to pick up my son in Inca and came across the accident. They were asking me for water to put out a burning motorcycle, while a young man lay dead on the ground in the middle of the road," he added. Another witness explained that drivers often speed through the village roads without lights, increasing the danger. Furthermore, they reported that some drivers threaten residents who record the races with their cell phones.

Despite repeated calls to the 062 emergency number and communications with the Selva Town Hall, the residents' association explained to ARA Baleares that they have not received a consistent or effective response, causing deep discontent among the residents. "We're not asking for favors. We're asking for solutions and accountability. Caimari can't continue like this," the residents stated. For this reason, a joint residents' complaint will be filed with the Town Hall, the Spanish Government Delegation, and the Civil Guard, with the aim of achieving immediate, coordinated, and definitive action to end this chronic problem. The residents are demanding urgent measures to guarantee the safety and peace of mind of the town, emphasizing that it's not just about rest, but about protecting the lives of family and friends. The collection of signatures has already begun and will continue in the coming days, with the aim of gathering as much support as possible from the town.
