Environmentalists warn: 15,000 trucks of manure from Ibiza will arrive in Son Reus.

The GOB and the residents of Son Sardina are preparing actions against the importation of waste from Ibiza for the fall. They denounce an unsustainable operation that transfers the waste problem from one island to another with the support of €50 million in public funds.

PalmThus, they will take advantage of the organization and mobilization of Palma's neighborhoods in relation to the Land Liberalization Law to coordinate informational, legal, and social mobilization actions in view of the fall. Approximately 70% of this waste is rejected, which is sent to the Ca na Putxa landfill in the municipality of Santa Eulàlia. He explained that the Ca na Putxa landfill is nearing the end of its useful life and, given the lack of foresight from the Ibiza Island Council, the "emergency solution" is now being considered: transferring the rejected waste to Mallorca for incineration in Son Reus. He also points out that Ibiza does not have a master plan for the sector, given that only approximately 30% (paper and cardboard, packaging, and organic matter) arrives.

Therefore, in addition to the significant environmental and logistical impact, it is particularly worrying that the Balearic Government is willing to allocate €50 million in public funds to finance this transport, instead of investing it in a structural solution for waste management in Ibiza and Formentera, which suffer from clearly insufficient selective collection.

The Balearic Government and the Son Sardina Residents' Association believe that this amount should be used to finance a definitive solution for waste management in Ibiza and Formentera, rather than squandering it by financing a transport system that does not address the deficiencies in selective collection and treatment on these islands.
