At least 12 arrested and 14 searches in the major anti-drug operation in La Soledat and Marratxí
More than 200 agents of the National Police and Customs Surveillance participate in the operation against an organization allegedly dedicated to drug trafficking in Mallorca
PalmaAt least 12 people have been arrested this Tuesday and 14 searches have been carried out as part of the major anti-drug trafficking operation deployed in the Palma neighborhood of La Soledat and in the municipality of Marratxí. More than 200 officers from the National Police and the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency are participating in the operation.
The operation, dubbed Tsunami-Galba, is a joint action against an organization allegedly dedicated to drug trafficking in Mallorca. The operation is focused mainly on La Soledat, although a search has also been carried out in Marratxí.
On the part of the National Police, agents from the Balearic Islands Judicial Police Brigade are participating, in addition to about fifty officers from the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) deployed from Valencia. The operation also includes specialists from the Operational Group of Technical Interventions (GOIT), aerial assets, and the Canine Guide unit.
Regarding Customs Surveillance, units from the Response and Immediate Intervention Groups (GRI) from Madrid and Barcelona are intervening, as well as agents from the Regional Air-Naval Unit, in charge of the security perimeter, and personnel from the Regional Headquarters of the Balearic Islands. A team specialized in the use of technical equipment is also participating.
The Palma Local Police is collaborating in the operation with traffic control in the area, while technicians from the City Council's Urban Planning department are participating in the inspection of the investigated properties.
The operation is still ongoing and the agents are maintaining the searches at the various points linked to the investigation.
