Manacor City Council will purchase the hermitage of Santa Llúcia and the building attached to the cloister.
It is a joint operation in accordance with the Dominican Fathers and of great importance for the conservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the municipality.

ManacorThe hermitage on Mount Santa Llúcia and the building attached to the convent of Sant Vicenç Ferrer have been transferred to public ownership for a total of €252,000. This was announced by Manacor City Council, which on Monday approved the incorporation of surplus funds totaling €1.9 million, which will finance several priority projects for the municipality.
This is a joint project with the Dominican Fathers and is of great importance for the conservation of Manacor's historical and cultural heritage. The building on Plaza Convent, with 336 m² built on four floors, is part of the complex declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) of the convent and church of Sant Vicenç Ferrer.
As for the hermitage on Mount Santa Llúcia and the adjacent land, covering 92,218 square meters, despite not being a BIC, it is protected by the Municipal Heritage Catalogue and is an emblematic element for the public.
Recently, the chapel's roof partially collapsed, highlighting the risk of deterioration if urgent action is not taken. Furthermore, with this acquisition, the chapel's surroundings will also be improved and can be used as a space for the public to enjoy.
The mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver, emphasized that "this purchase guarantees the public preservation of unique heritage elements and opens the door to future cultural, educational, and social projects that will benefit all citizens." He also emphasized that the transaction was possible at an affordable price for the municipality thanks to the current owners' willingness to sell both properties together.
