Memoria de Mallorca warns of the shortcomings in educational curricula about the Franco dictatorship with a letter to Pedro Sánchez.
The entity wants to promote a state law that guarantees the mandatory inclusion, in the ESO and Bachillerato curricula of all autonomous communities, of the historical periods between the proclamation of the Second Republic and the democratic transition.

PalmThe Memoria de Mallorca association has sent a letter to the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, to alert you to the shortcomings in educational curricula regarding the Second Republic, the Civil War, the Franco dictatorship, and the Transition to Democracy. The letter seeks to urge you to promote a national education law that guarantees the mandatory inclusion of the historical periods between the proclamation of the Second Republic and the Transition to Democracy in the secondary and high school curricula of all autonomous communities.
Memory of Mallorca explains that recent studies reveal serious deficiencies in the school transmission of this historical period, especially with regard to the Franco dictatorship. Memoria de Mallorca warns that this deficiency contributes to the political misinformation among young people and the rise of far-right discourse and options.
For this reason, the association is also organizing a conference on memory and education next Saturday, September 27, at 11 a.m. in Can Alcover. This conference will focus on the education sector but is open to everyone. This conference will include presentations by representatives of the University of the Balearic Islands, as well as secondary school and high school teachers and specialists in teaching resources and actions to address this deficiency.
