New space for local producers inaugurated at Mercapalma

PalmThe Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment, Joan Simonet, attended this Friday the inauguration of the space for local producers known as the lying of Mercapalma, which will be managed by Unió de Pagesos, and has expressed its support for the benefits that, according to him, it will bring to the promotion and consumption of local and nearby products.

The Minister of Agriculture thanked Palma City Council and Mercapalma for the new conditions, which benefit farmers and small producers in Mallorca, as well as the step taken by Unió de Pagesos to assume coordination of the space.

"One of the many problems in the sector is that, often, if small producers go it alone, they are weaker. Uniting and closing ranks strengthens them as producers. It's a policy we all share, both the administrations and the producers. Consumers should also know that everything sold here is 100% Mallorcan," he concluded. Simonet encouraged citizens to support this initiative and to focus on consuming local products.
