Ninth day of TIB workers' strike, no agreement reached: "Minimum breaks between shifts are now the issue."
The parties will meet again at 4 p.m.
PalmThe TIB workers' strike registered a 94% follow-up rate this Thursday, the day the union and employers will meet again at the Balearic Islands Mediation and Arbitration Tribunal (TAMIB) to try to reach an agreement.
The workers gathered this morning at Palma airport, although, according to sources from the SATI union, they were assigned "a corner" where the sun was shining, and due to the heat, they moved to the Palma Intermodal Station, where they will remain until 2:30 p.m.
This afternoon's meeting, specifically at 4:00 PM, will take place after representatives from both sides met for more than six hours yesterday and failed to reach a preliminary agreement. "The biggest problem we currently have is the issue of minimum breaks between shifts," explained SATI representatives.
In this regard, employer sources lamented that this Tuesday at the TAMIB meeting, the unions brought up issues that were not scheduled to be discussed. They also pointed out that the main stumbling block in the negotiations is breaks between shifts, since, according to them, workers want more hours than the regulations and the employers' association stipulate.
