Pilar Bonet, sentenced to two and a half years in prison for defrauding more than two million euros in Globalia
This Thursday he ratified the written agreement in which he accepts the accusations

PalmThe Palma Court has sentenced the former island councilor to two and a half years in prison. Pilar Bonet for defrauding Globalia of €2.1 million while working there. This Thursday, accompanied by her lawyer, Antoni Martínez, Bonet ratified the plea agreement in which she accepts the charges and the two-year prison sentence for authorizing payments through the company to personal accounts or accounts under her control.
It should be remembered that Bonet has already acknowledged the facts and that, according to a psychological expert report, she suffers from an unspecified impulsive control disorder and, in particular, compulsive buying disorder, which is uncontrollable and used as an emotional regulation strategy, in addition to a persistent anxiety-depressive disorder, being one of the causes why.
Bonet was Minister of Finance and Civil Service and after the case became public, the Consell de Mallorca commissioned the island institution's technicians to prepare reports on all invoices and contracts. Although the accusations of embezzlement for which she resigned had nothing to do with her public office and refer exclusively to her time there, the institution commissioned these reports to detect any suspicion of fraud.
