PalmThe Balearic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing and the Palma Mountain Film Festival have launched the seventh edition of their 2026 Mountain Photography Awards, with submissions open until March 8th. The competition includes 14 awards across various categories, with a combined prize pool exceeding €3,500. The awards recognize mountain photographs taken anywhere within three main areas: mountain sports activities, such as mountaineering, expeditions, climbing, hiking, caving, canyoning, and running; mountain culture, focusing on ethnography and identity; and mountain landscapes and biodiversity. Among the top prizes is the award for best mountain photograph, which includes a €400 cash prize from the FBME. A prize of €200 will also be awarded for the best caving photograph taken in the Balearic Islands, €150 for the best image of mountain biodiversity, and several vouchers for sports equipment for specific categories such as mountaineering, climbing, mountain culture, and women and mountains. The awards also include regional prizes, such as the one for the best photograph of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, consisting of dinner and a hotel stay for two people valued at €300. Awards will also be given for the best hiking, climbing, or caving photographs taken in Mallorca and Menorca, as well as a prize for photographers under 25 and another for the best photographic series of three images. The competition will culminate in an exhibition of a selection of the best photographs at the Centro Cultural de la Misericordia in Palma.
