PalmPalma Citizen Card holders will not be able to use it to travel on EMT buses from the end of the first quarter of 2026. This will be the main consequence of the introduction of the new Single Card, presented this Monday by the Regional Minister for Housing, Territory, and Mobility, José Luis Mateo, and the Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Antoni Deudero. The new card will allow travel on urban and intercity buses, trains, and the metro, just as the Intermodal Card, which already operates as a single ticket, does. Thus, nothing will change for Intermodal Card users. Both Mateo and Deudero emphasized during the presentation of the Single Card that this is a "historic day."

Citizen Card holders who do not have the Intermodal Card will be able to apply for the Single Card starting in October. One of the new features of this change is that from now on, you can also pay with a bank card for the EMT (Metropolitan Transport Authority), as is already the case for trains, metro, and intercity buses. This payment method is primarily aimed at tourists and non-residents.

The Director General of Mobility, Maria Lorena del Valle, emphasized that the new card will involve integrated fares. Palma will be considered ground zero, and the EMT will apply the same discounts as the rest of public transport in Mallorca, such as those for children under 17 and senior citizens. Furthermore, the Mallorca Transport Consortium (CTM) is preparing a virtual Single Card for mobile phones that will be launched during the first half of 2026, as explained by Del Valle.

According to Europa Press, almost 570,000 residents of Mallorca have the Intermodal Card, 41% of whom (230,000) are residents of Palma. Those who need to obtain the Single Card can do so at the Balearic Islands Transport user service points, at the Cort Citizen Service Offices, and at EMT service points.

The cost of implementing the Single Card was 1.9 million euros, financed with European funds.
