The fire relief workers in León return to the islands after completing their work.
The teams return to the Balearic Islands to maintain the safety of islanders during the peak fire season.

PalmThe emergency personnel deployed to help fight the fires in Castile and León, consisting of 46 personnel and 21 vehicles, are returning home after completing their duties, working in their assigned areas to maintain their full operational capacity in the Balearic Islands, as the islands are in peak fire risk season from August 15th to November.
According to the Ministry of the Presidency, Government Action Coordination, and Local Cooperation, the Government is withdrawing the emergency personnel deployed to León after the area assigned to the operation has stabilized.
Although the emergency continues in other parts of Castile and León, the withdrawal is being carried out according to established planning and with the aim of maintaining available resources on the islands. This decision reflects the solidarity shown these days with other territories and, at the same time, the responsibility to guarantee the safety of the Balearic citizens, the Ministry explained.
Within 48 hours of the official request, the island teams were already working on the ground. Over the following days, the unit operated with the greatest possible intensity at different locations in the province of León. On the first day, they were deployed to Villarubín, where they were tasked with protecting the town center and controlling fire points in the forest area, using manual labor and the support of pick-up trucks.
The following day, the mission remained the same: protecting the citizens of Villarubín and preventing flare-ups, using hand tools and motor pumps. On the third day, they were assigned to control hot spots in the Gestoso fire, which was stabilized. On this day, the contingent's medical personnel intervened, treating eye conditions caused by the ash.
On the fourth day, they were deployed to the Anllares fire, on the border with Asturias, where they worked in two different sectors: Cariseda and Anllarinos del Sil. It was a demanding day, with moments of frustration, as stabilization could not be achieved in some places due to the extreme conditions, the Ministry of the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action and Local Cooperation shared in a press release.
Furthermore, communications tasks proved especially complex after the Peranzanes telephone repeater collapsed, but the IBDigital transportable telecommunications station was key to keeping all members of the operation in contact. This Saturday, the last day of work on the ground, the light and heavy sections worked together until noon. The heavy vehicles will begin the return journey this Saturday afternoon with a stop in Burgos, while the rest of the team will continue working until the afternoon and will depart on Sunday morning.
The two convoys will head to the ports of Barcelona and Valencia to embark for the islands. Arrivals in Palma, Ibiza, and Menorca are expected between dawn and early Monday.
