The Government reacts to criticism from the Plan's association for the lack of water
The Executive says it has not "at any time" renounced helping the municipalities in response to the complaint they have made about receiving only promises.

PalmThe Government stated today that it has not "at any time" renounced supporting municipalities with water supply difficulties in the Plan. The Water Plan establishes a direct aid mechanism for municipalities that do not have a connection to the Government's main water network. President of the Plan Association, Joana Maria Pasqual, denounced to ARA Baleares the government's abandonment of these municipalities in Mallorca. The Plan divides the municipalities between those who cannot drink the water they have because it's of poor quality and those who don't have it and must continually use tanker trucks. In fact, last year they spent 800,000 euros. "We only have trucks and promises. Year after year the situation repeats itself, and no public resources have been invested here to help us. We're left feeling abandoned, and I don't want any problems with anyone, but I also don't want to hide the reality we're suffering, that of not knowing how we'll spend the summer," lamented Pasqual, who is calling out the institutions that don't prioritize investment.
The aid the Government is talking about may be activated whenever a state of hydrological emergency is officially declared, in accordance with the provisions of Decree 54/2017, of December 15, and aims to guarantee the supply of drinking water for essential urban use through truck transport.
"This new framework allows for swift action and legal certainty in cases where the affected municipalities do not have viable alternative supply sources," they highlighted.
The instrument will allow the Government, through the Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle, to finance the transport of drinking water by tanker truck from the mains network to municipal reservoirs, in cases where no alternative supply sources exist and provided that the municipalities have implemented all the planned measures. Possible Drought.
The government assures that the aid is intended "exclusively to guarantee the human and essential use of water, that is, the supply for domestic consumption of the population, and is not intended for agricultural use." The measure is activated only in officially declared emergencies and "responds to the need for an agile and legally sound mechanism to address specific water crisis situations, especially in areas that lack infrastructure for connection to the government's high-water network."
