PalmaThe Government has asked hotels this Tuesday to encourage guests to watch the solar eclipse of August 12 from their accommodations and to avoid private vehicle travel. The request is part of the planned measures to reduce mobility during the afternoon. As previously communicated, car access to the Serra de Tramuntana will also be restricted, with exceptions for residents, workers, and people staying or with reservations in establishments in the area.

The Minister of Tourism, Jaume Bauzà, has conveyed the request to the tourism sector during a meeting to explain the measures and resolve any doubts.

The Government's action has focused on prevention and planning, so that "there is no improvisation," according to Bauzà, to guarantee safety and public order. The Executive's campaign consists of distributing 9,000 informative leaflets in various languages and 5,000 leaflets in tourist offices, in addition to information at ports and airports. On the other hand, they have collaborated with the city councils of Palma and Ciutadella for the preparation of the foreign campaign and have made all information about the eclipse available on the official Government portal, including the best viewing points: eclipsisegur.caib.esAccess to the Tramuntana mountain range

Workers, residents, people with a second home, and hotel guests will be able to access the Tramuntana mountain range by private vehicle as long as they prove this circumstance.

People who have a reservation at a restaurant or bar will also be able to enter, but only if the establishment has sufficient parking spaces. The Director General of Emergencies, Pablo Gárriz, explained that this will be one of the exceptions provided for within the mobility restrictions, which will be in force between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

The Government recommends that hotel, bar, and restaurant customers use alternative transport to private vehicles whenever possible, such as taxis, VTCs, or shuttle buses. The restrictions will not affect people accessing on foot, by bicycle and motorcycle, nor emergency vehicles, essential public services, public transport, and authorized vehicles.
