The two planned evictions of the Palma local police storage units have been halted.
Stop Evictions has requested that the properties be expropriated as payment for the fines imposed on the owner.

PalmStop Desahucios Mallorca has successfully halted the evictions of two people living in storage units on Joan Miró Street, owned by the Palma local police officer who was sanctioned by the government for renting out these substandard homes.
According to the organization, the affected people learned of the eviction proceedings last week. The reason was the non-payment of the rent charged by the agent for the properties, which were illegally used as housing. The payments were made in cash, and the owner had a restraining order against them, although they do not know if the court order is still in effect because the affected people do not have a public defender in the proceedings against the Local Police officer.
Stop Evictions spokesperson Joan Segura explained that one of the people to be evicted did not hear anything until Monday, after being informed by his public defender's secretary.
Segura noted that the affected people are elderly and sick. One of them recently had surgery and is convalescing. Socioeconomically, one receives the minimum living wage, while the other has no income due to postoperative care. According to the activist, one of these people requires strong medication and, during the eviction trial, felt under considerable pressure. This allegedly led him to accept a poor deal to leave the home, but since he hasn't found any alternative, he still lives there.
In the case of the other person, Segura has reported that the judicial commission pressured him to sign an eviction notice scheduled for July 17. That same day, the eviction of a family living in these storage units is also scheduled. However, the notice was allegedly not signed, as the attorney general did not show up that Monday.
The spokesperson has called for a suspension of evictions and urged the government or Palma City Council to expropriate the properties as compensation for the fines imposed on the owner. "Just as was done with Fernando Palazuelo in the case of the Torres del Temple, it can also be done here," he asserted.
In addition, they have denounced the power outages suffered by the people who live there. They said they have been reporting interruptions in the electricity and water service for a year, but for the past week they have been without water and with reduced electrical power.
It should be noted that the local police officer in Palma who rented these storage units has been fined two million euros for renting 68 substandard apartments and was arrested for the same offense.
