They damage the cross of Bunyola during the patron saint festivities
A Council inspector has examined the cross, after a young man has attempted to climb it this early morning
PalmaThe Council of Mallorca has sent an inspector to examine the cross of Bunyola, located on the Costa de l'Estació, after it suffered a series of damages when a young man tried to climb it early this morning, during the patron saint festivities of Sant Mateu.
The cross is declared a Property of Cultural Interest (BIC). As sources from the Council of Mallorca have confirmed to Europa Press, the island institution has requested a report from the Bunyola City Council to clarify what happened.
As reported by Última Hora, a young man of about 20 years old tried to climb the monument, topped by a cross, when, at a certain point, the column supporting it allegedly detached.
Following the incident, the young man was injured and required medical assistance at the scene.
Sources from the Council of Mallorca have explained that they will evaluate the state of the monument and will provide assistance to the Bunyola City Council to clarify the circumstances of the events and possible responsibilities.
