PalmThe Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue continue their search this Sunday for twelve missing people after they jumped into the water near Cabrera from a small boat on Friday afternoon.

According to Civil Guard sources who have informed the media, due to the sea conditions, air personnel from the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue are participating in the search efforts this day. Thus, "one Civil Guard helicopter and one Rescue helicopter" are taking part in the operation.

"The Civil Guard helicopter is prepared for the rescue of two or three people; therefore, if more people are located, rescue boats will be mobilized," they stated. It should be noted that the small boat from which these twelve people jumped was rescued at 6:45 p.m. approximately 36 miles southwest of Cabrera, reported the Spanish Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands. A total of 26 people were on board the boat, according to the 14 rescued migrants.

One of the rescued migrants had to be evacuated by helicopter to a hospital due to his poor health, according to the Civil Guard. The Civil Guard's Maritime Service and Maritime Rescue established a search operation in the area.

They are searching for three other people from the boat that sank on Wednesday.

In addition, the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue are searching for the three migrants who disappeared from a boat that sank on Wednesday in southern Mallorca, after spending six days adrift. These three people may have disappeared during the journey.

It should be recalled that on Wednesday at around 10:30 a.m., a private boat rescued a migrant of sub-Saharan origin, who was taken to Porotopetro for medical attention.

It was he who alerted the public that he was traveling with twenty-three other people aboard a boat that had sank after spending about six days adrift, which led to the activation of air and sea resources for their search and rescue.

Two missing boats

The NGO Caminando Fronteras (Walking Borders) has reported the disappearance of at least two boats that departed the Algerian coast in recent days, heading for the Balearic Islands, but had not reached their destination.

This same Friday, they received another notification from relatives warning them that a second boat with 26 people on board may have disappeared during the migration journey.
