Two mares rescued from a farm in Palma in poor condition.
The mounted section of the agents and a municipal veterinarian appeared at the farm last Monday after receiving information about the conditions in which the animals were found.

PalmThe Palma Local Police and the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard rescued two mares that were in "terrible conditions" on a farm in the Son Gual area. According to the Local Police, the mounted unit and a municipal veterinarian visited the farm last Monday after receiving information about the animals' condition.
Once there, they met with the Seprona, who had also located the mares, which were removed and taken to the Municipal Health Center for Animal Protection (CSMPA) of Palma City Council. Proceedings have also been initiated for an alleged crime of animal abuse, as the animals showed clear signs of malnutrition and dehydration, among other things.
The Animal Protection Center has taken in and cared for the mares, which have received veterinary care. However, in the case of one of the mares, the decision was made to euthanize her humanely due to the severity of her condition and the impossibility of her recovery. The rescue operation, which was activated following a citizen complaint, was part of a joint effort coordinated by the Natural Environment and Healthy Spaces Department of Cort, with the participation of officers from the Mounted Police Unit of the Local Police and the Seprona (National Health Service).
Once the two equines were transferred to the municipal facilities, the veterinary inspection report reflected that they were over 20 years old and did not have an identifying microchip, nor were they registered in the Livestock Farm Registry (Rega). The inspection concluded that the animals were suffering from severe cachexia, i.e., a state of extreme malnutrition, muscle atrophy, fatigue, and weakness.
