Why doesn't the Children's Office do anything about bullfighting offers to minors?
The Franz Weber Foundation has criticized the lack of response from this body and reminds them of the recommendations of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child
PalmThe Franz Weber Foundation has criticized the “inaction” of the Balearic Office for Childhood and Adolescence (OBIA) regarding promotions aimed at minors to attend bullfights planned in Inca and Muro.
The animal rights entity announces that it will send a letter to the regional body to ask if it intends to comply with the recommendations of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, which urges to limit minors' access to bullfighting events.
According to the foundation, the OBIA did not issue reports during the parliamentary process that allowed minors to enter bullfighting again in the Balearic Islands, nor has it commented on international warnings in this matter.
The group recalls that the Committee on the Rights of the Child published a new resolution in February in which it urged Spain and the autonomous communities to prohibit minors' access to these events and to promote awareness campaigns about their effects.
In this context, the Franz Weber Foundation assures that, three months after this recommendation, the regional body "has not moved a finger", despite the fact that the bullfights announced in Inca this Sunday and in Muro in June include specific promotions for minors.
