"I woke up without clothes in a hostel and I did not know where I was"

PalmaA woman accused a man this Tuesday of raping her by taking advantage of the fact that she was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and she asserted that she does not remember anything from the early hours of the night of the incident in September 2024.

"I went out partying with my friends and everything was normal until a moment when I was in the bathroom, and from then on I don't remember anything else," she explained during her testimony at the trial. "The next day I woke up naked in a hostel. I didn't know where I was," she stated in the first session of the trial at the Provincial Court against a man for whom the Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking a nine-year prison sentence and the payment of 3,000 euros in compensation, of which, as her lawyer has explained, he has already paid 1,000.

The victim recounted that when she woke up at the hostel, she felt pain in her genitals and noticed she had scratches on her legs. The trial is scheduled to continue this Wednesday, when the defendant's testimony is expected, who will be questioned by the parties last.

The facts, as stated by the prosecutor in his indictment, date back to September 24, 2022, when the woman decided to go out with some friends in the Arenal leisure area and consumed alcoholic beverages. After spending the night partying, she met the 41-year-old defendant, with whom she consumed drugs and continued partying at different venues. Approximately around 6:00 PM, and taking advantage of the fact that the victim was weak and had no capacity to react, the defendant took her to a hostel in Palma and raped her.
