The National Police have arrested two people accused of attempted illegal detention following the events that occurred on Sunday in Palma.
PalmA woman's husband and a witness thwarted an attempted kidnapping this Sunday in Son Ferriol, Palma, in an incident that ended with the arrest of two people accused of attempted unlawful detention. According to a statement released Tuesday by the National Police, the incident occurred around 12:50 p.m., when several calls to 091 alerted them that a couple was trying to force a woman in her sixties into a vehicle. Officers from the Citizen Assistance Group arrived at the scene and found the victim with multiple bruises and in a highly agitated state. The woman had been helped by her husband and several witnesses, whose intervention thwarted the attempt and caused the assailants to flee. The witnesses provided a description of the alleged perpetrators, allowing patrols to begin a search of the area. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. The investigation, led by the Robbery Unit, has allowed investigators to reconstruct the events. The woman was waiting for a relative at a roundabout when a vehicle with a man and a woman inside stopped. They ordered her to get in, but the victim refused. At that moment, the woman got out of the car, grabbed the victim's arm tightly, and pushed her, trying to force her into the vehicle while demanding she get in. A struggle ensued, during which the victim managed to escape and flee towards her home, although she was pursued by the assailant. Shortly afterward, the alleged perpetrator intercepted her again, knocked her to the ground, and continued trying to force her into the vehicle. The victim called for help, and her husband, along with a local worker, intervened and managed to separate them. At that moment, the man driving the vehicle also got out, but ultimately both fled the scene. Hours later, the police located and arrested them.
