PalmaHousing sales fell 18.6% in the Balearic Islands in February, despite a 1.4% drop in prices, according to data from the General Council of Notaries. Specifically, housing sales fell in a total of 14 autonomous communities, where the Islands rank third, only behind the Canary Islands (-21%) and Navarre (19.2%), while also being ahead of Asturias (-17.6%).

The data reflects that the Balearic Islands are one of the five communities that registered price drops, (-1.4%), along with Navarre (-13.7%), Extremadura (-3.5%), Murcia (-2.8%), and Galicia (-2.5%).

Housing sales fell 7.7% in Spain as a whole in February, its second adjustment since the beginning of the year, while prices moderated their rise to 5.4% and the granting of loans for the purchase of a house increased slightly by 0.2% year-on-year, according to data from the General Council of Notaries.

With this new drop, housing sales have accumulated five consecutive months of declines, which began in October 2025 (-1.9%) and were followed by those in November (-2.4%); December (-1%); January (-11.4%) and February (-7.7%).

All this in a market that suffers from a housing deficit to meet growing demand, which drives up prices and hinders access, especially among young people and those with fewer resources.
