PalmAmid smiles and a naturalness possessed only by musicians who create from the pure present, Mezquida recounted that he had responded that way to a question posed by a journalist from Ibiza. The phrase served as the unintentional thread that guided a concert which reiterated, with absolute certainty, that the music of this duo needs no framework to be understood. It simply happens, flows, builds, and transforms before the audience.

A From the SoulOn Chicuelo and Mezquida's third album, that freedom is structural, and even more so in their live performances. The concert followed almost the same order as the album, starting with Najando and Danger Streetand adding two pieces of Connection (2017), Wiles and In the sunThe latter as an encore. A choice that allowed for a coherent journey, conceived like opening a book to read it from beginning to end, but with the flexibility and liveliness of a live performance.

Paco de Mode's percussion acted as a third narrative axis of the project. His presence brought color, breath, and internal rhythm to the tracks, giving them depth and taking center stage when the energy and the narrative demanded it. An essential presence for understanding the texture of From the Soul

Among the most powerful moments of the concert, Lighthouse of Wishes It occupied a prominent place. Mezquida dedicated it to the Palestinian people, explaining that, despite having originated as a love song, it now takes on an unavoidable meaning: to remind us that there are people living through extreme and unjust situations while the world looks on. It was a clear and humane statement, enough to imbue the piece with a different emotion, calm yet powerful, which the audience received with absolute silence. Lighthouse of WishesBorn as a love song, it became a small banner to champion love as a path to peace.

Just before, Alalimon It had produced the opposite effect: an outburst of spontaneous applause. The rhythmic complicity, the joy of the song, and one crescendo Very well executed, they made this garment one of the most celebrated moments of the night.

From the Soul It had premiered last February at the Palma Conservatory to a packed house and an enthusiastic reception. That success has been repeated: many people have returned, literally, to relive the experience. And it's easy to understand why. Some projects work because they are beautiful; this one works because, in addition, it is honest and there is no artifice behind what happens on stage. Just music, just listening, just two creators—and a percussion section that completes the circle—doing what they know how to do: share.
