Flavia Gargiulo and Mercè Homar are leading a series of events focused on genre literature at Can Sales.
The first meeting will take place on Thursday, October 30, at 7 p.m., in the Comiteca of the Can Sales library.
PalmThe writer Mercè Homar Mas and the illustrator and comic author Flavia Gargiulo present Cured and Mat, a new series of bimonthly gatherings dedicated to sharing readings and literary recommendations in the library's Can Sales library. Each session will revolve around a special theme—Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, among others—with proposals that combine literature and comics for all tastes. This is a fun activity that seeks the audience's participation, offering small challenges and themed games related to reading and the selected stories.
The series will focus on genre literature—fantasy, science fiction, and horror—and will combine recently released titles on the new releases table with books available in the library and other less recent gems that deserve to be rediscovered. The program asserts that it's not always necessary to be on trend to enjoy good stories: "Many great books have been buried under the avalanches of new releases," explain the organizers.
In addition, each edition will feature a local guest author, who will contribute their perspective and recommendations on the meeting's theme. The first meeting, Cure and Mat: Halloween Special, will take place on Thursday, October 30th, at 7 p.m., in the Comiteca of the Can Sales library. Admission is free and open until capacity is reached.
During the session, Mercè Homar Mas will recommend a selection of novels, while Flavia Gargiulo will share her perspective on the world of comics. The event will be recorded as a podcast and will later be available online.
"We want to create a welcoming and accessible space where readers can discover new stories and authors, and where literature and comics coexist on the same table," explain the project's founders.
Guarida i Tapete aims to become a meeting point for readers, comic book fans, and lovers of good stories, with a program that will change themes with each edition.
