ManacorJoan Bibiloni (Manacor, 1952) has everything ready (next Saturday, November 29, at 12 pm at the Món de Llibres bookstore) for the presentation of his new album,The eyelids of the heart(Satie produccions audiovisuals), a work created in the Sa Cuina studio between 2023 and 2025. A work of recited texts accompanied by a soundtrack by Bibiloni himself. A gift for the ears and the heart, it will be released on vinyl next Friday, November 28th.
The Manacor-born musician will speak during the presentation with fellow musician, writer, and illustrator Tomeu Matamalas, who has written a review of the album:
"We believe that a musical work should be listened to, not explained. Or, at most, the explanation should be a simple complement. Juan's good taste, the harmonic richness, and the masterful use of his resources and innate talent are qualities present in every corner of The eyelids of the heartand are stamped in Latin capitals on the walls of the ear like fundamental sonic dogmas.
And as for the lyrics—not sung, but explained with mathematical precision and exquisite nuances—although they don't aspire to be poems, they are something more than song lyrics. Even on the first listen, we detect more than one of those generational truths that may have become somewhat faded for younger generations, but which are fundamental for those of us approaching or slightly over seventy.
Words and music, music and words… It doesn't matter! This work could only emerge after many years of stylistic refinement. With the seven tracks that make up The eyelids of the heart (recited, declaimed or, simply, told), Joan Bibiloni inaugurates a genre that will have to be given a name."
