PalmThe Menorca Catalan Book Fair celebrates its twentieth edition this weekend in Ciutadella, with a program of activities that fills the Plaza del Born with literature, culture, and the reading public. This year, the event pays tribute to the Menorcan cartoonist Marino Benejam, coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of his death.

Seven bookstores from the island are participating, exhibiting the latest Catalan-language publishing releases at an event that has already established itself as one of the main meeting points for Menorcan authors, publishers, and readers.

Over the weekend, several writers presented their new works, including Xavier Bosch, Damià Rotger, Joan Pons, Fina Salord, Olga Vallverdú, Jaume Copons, and Liliana Fortuny.

The fair also hosted the island finals of the 'Carta en tierra' and 'Lletres i mots' competitions, and also the presentation of the Francesc de Borja Moll short story and legend award, which recognizes the best creative texts in Catalan.

With two decades of history, the Menorca Catalan Book Fair continues to reaffirm itself as a space for vindication and celebration of the Catalan language and literature.
