The Museum of Mallorca reviews the life and political career of Antoni Maura with an exhibition

PalmThe Museum of Mallorca opens an exhibition this Tuesday, running until May 10, dedicated to the Mallorcan politician Antoni Maura, commemorating the centenary of his death. Organized by the Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB), the exhibition offers a journey through Maura's life and political career via seven thematic panels. Among the topics covered are the Maura Muntaner family, the influence of the Balearic Institute, the Mallorcan Maurists, Maura's Aristotelian politics, the episodes in which he was the target of attacks, the 'Maura, no' campaign, and the artists in his family.

The exhibition includes historical documents, paintings, personal belongings and his office, expressly brought from Madrid, in addition to the screening of the documentary Maura in 12 strokesProduced by the IEB and IB3 to commemorate the centenary.

According to the Balearic Government, Antoni Maura is considered "the great statesman" of contemporary Spanish history, recognized even by his ideological rivals for acting "free from personal interests or ambitions for power." His figure represents the most outstanding generation of Mallorcans of his time, a product of the academic legacy of the pioneering Institut Balear, inspired by Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos.
