The PP and the far-right converge in Palma in the concentration for Ceuta

PalmaThe neo-fascist group Identitas has joined the call for support for Ceuta that the Balearic PP and the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, have promoted for Wednesday, September 2, at 8 p.m. in Plaça de Cort. The far-right collective has circulated through its social networks a call to participate in the concentration with the message in Spanish 'Defend Spain! All with Ceuta and Melilla' and has asked its followers to 'spread it and attend' the event.

The Palma demonstration is part of the call made at the state level by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which has proposed that town councils demonstrate on September 2, coinciding with Ceuta Day. The initiative proposes simultaneous events at 8 p.m. in front of the town halls to show solidarity with the autonomous city.

In Palma, however, the call has taken on a marked political component after Martínez linked the situation in Ceuta with the Spanish government's migration policy and with the pressure that, according to the mayor, the public services of the Balearic Islands are suffering. In the video disseminated by Martínez, the mayor assures that what is happening in Ceuta "concerns everyone" and that it should serve as an "warning" for the Islands. He also calls on the Spanish government to provide "all necessary resources" to defend the "territorial integrity and sovereignty" of Spain and to guarantee the security of the citizens of Ceuta.

Identitas has taken advantage of the call to disseminate it on its social networks. The group has published a poster with the location, schedule, and the call 'Let's defend Spain! Everyone with Ceuta and Melilla!'. The incorporation of Identitas gives an ultra dimension to a gathering that formally stems from an institutional call.

The group has also recently disseminated other messages of a patriotic and recruitment nature. In one of the publications, under the slogan, also in Spanish 'Se cerquen homes' (Men wanted), it asks for volunteers in Mallorca 'to raise the flag of social patriotism' and 'to put oneself at the service of something greater than the individual'. Among the rewards it associates with this is 'the fulfillment of duty and honor'.

The call for the rally comes after Identitas has consolidated its presence in Mallorca with the establishment of its own headquarters, baptized as La Torre, which the collective uses to organize talks and activities.

The group also plans an activity linked to the European identitarian far-right this Saturday, September 5, with the visit of members of Castell Aurora, a space located in Steyregg, Upper Austria, which since 2019 has been used as a meeting center, headquarters, and home for the Austrian far-right identitarian movement. This international connection is part of the group's desire to build networks with other European far-right movements, while in Mallorca it tries to consolidate a stable structure and its own activity.

It should be recalled that the PP has heeded the call to participate in the rallies in front of the town halls of the Balearic Islands. The party's general secretary, Sandra Fernández, has defended that "Ceuta is part of Spain" and that what affects the people of Ceuta concerns "everyone". Thus, Wednesday's rally in Cort will bring together a call of institutional origin that has been well received by the far-right.
