PalmaThe National Police have arrested eight people in Palma accused of being part of a scheme dedicated to illegally registering foreign citizens. The investigation has identified at least 70 people who allegedly benefited from this fraudulent system.

According to police sources, the organization operated for at least three years with a stable structure and for profit. The group used false documentation to circumvent the administrative controls of the municipal registry, seeking offices with fewer verification mechanisms.

To do this, those involved drew up false rental contracts and earnest money documents, impersonating the identity of the real property owners. With this documentation, they authorized the registration of third parties, charging between 250 and 300 euros for each illicit registration.

The investigation, initiated by Group I of the immigration unit, also determined that the members of the network coordinated their tasks. The purpose of the registrations was not to reside in the properties, but to facilitate administrative procedures such as access to the health card, the citizen card, or to prove residency time for social integration processes.

Finally, the agents arrested five men and three women as alleged perpetrators of crimes of document forgery, aiding irregular immigration, and belonging to a criminal group.
