PalmAfter a few days with almost summer-like temperatures, the weather took a radical turn this Sunday in Mallorca. The arrival of an Atlantic front has caused a notable drop in thermometers, strong winds, and precipitation, leaving behind the spring-like atmosphere of recent days.

According to the State Meteorological Agency, the day is marked by overcast skies with rain that may be accompanied by mud and become more intense from the afternoon onwards, especially in the Serra de Tramuntana.

Temperatures have also experienced a notable drop. The highs, which in previous days had approached 30 °C in some parts of the island, are between 15 and 17 °C this Sunday, values more typical of winter than spring.

Wind is another of the day's protagonists. AEMET has activated yellow alerts for wind and rough seas, with gusts that can reach 60 or 70 kilometers per hour, especially in the south of Mallorca. Waves of up to three meters are also expected, which has forced measures to be taken in maritime transport. In fact, the storm has already caused cancellations. The shipping company Baleària has suspended two routes of the fast ferry Jaume I between Alcúdia and Ciutadella scheduled for this Sunday afternoon.

Specifically, the 6:00 PM departure from Alcúdia and the 8:00 PM return trip from Ciutadella have been cancelled due to strong winds and rough seas.

This change in weather comes after days marked by abnormally high temperatures for this time of year, with almost summer-like readings in different parts of Mallorca. The forecast indicates that the situation will begin to improve from Monday onwards, with a progressive recovery of temperatures and a stabilization of the weather.
