PalmThe Government has approved this Friday the mobilization of 15.3 million euros for a social package that complements the anti-crisis decree law. The Executive has divided the social shield into two decree laws: the first, which contained the economic measures directed at the sectors most affected by the war in the Middle East, was approved at the end of March with the support of the PSIB and the vote against from Vox. The parties have not yet commented on whether they will support this new measure. However, this time the PP has taken into account the demand for national priority established by Vox in the package of aid approved by the Consell de Mallorca, and will also require a minimum of years of residence for those who wish to access direct aid.

The Minister of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care, Sandra Fernández, has detailed the measures in this package, which complements the first decree of 160 million euros to protect economic sectors, companies and self-employed workers against the rise in inflation and energy costs. This package includes 5.7 million euros for extraordinary aid for families, work-life balance and the coverage of basic needs; three million to strengthen the community social services of the municipalities; and more than 2.3 million euros to guarantee housing and residential resources for vulnerable groups. In the same vein, it will allocate 2.6 million euros to expedite social aid and benefits, which will translate into the incorporation of 18 new non-structural jobs. The minister stressed that the measures have been communicated to the rest of the ministries, as well as to the municipalities, island councils, parliamentary groups and social entities.

Maintains the requirement of rootedness

Asked if newcomers will also be excluded on this occasion, Fernández announced this Thursday that the aid package will be granted with the criteria of the existing subsidy calls. Thus, sources from the department have clarified to Europa Press that the requirement to prove roots will be maintained to access some of these social aids, especially those that are direct. On the other hand, subsidies directly intended for social entities will be excluded from this criterion. Also those specifically aimed at minors.
