PalmVox voted with the left on Thursday to force First Vice President Antoni Costa to appear before the plenary session to discuss the budget. The day after the clash between the PP and the far right over language, Manuela Cañadas's party closed ranks with the PSIB, MÁS per Mallorca, and Més per Menorca in the Board of Spokespersons. In a press conference, Cañadas expressed outrage at the PP's rejection on Tuesday of her law to marginalize Catalan in schools. "The PP is a fraud," she asserted: "If you want to copy the left, you might as well copy the original, and if you want to copy Vox, you might as well have them in power." In this regard, she stated that "Vox is in favor of Catalan language immersion, but it must be voluntary": "Just as we demand voluntary language immersion in Spanish." Cañadas has asked the PP to withdraw its proposed law to introduce Spanish as the language of instruction in the Education Law, but the Popular Party refuses. Given this, she did not clarify how they will vote if the bill is ultimately brought to the plenary session. Nor did she specify whether the confrontation with the PP could lead to a lack of agreement on the budget, although she expressed support for Costa providing explanations. "It is democratic for the councilors and the vice president to appear and explain the hidden agreements with the PSIB, because what they say in an office they don't follow through on, and then they do the opposite," she said. The request for the appearance was initiated by the PSIB. Its spokesperson, Iago Negueruela, wants Costa to explain "what he should do about the spending cap, the budget," and the initiatives regarding tourism, such as the increase in the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) or the tax on non-resident vehicles. After the Minister of Economy stated that he is negotiating the spending cap with the PSIB and Vox, Negueruela emphasized that they have only had one meeting. "30 votes versus 25, that's the PP's real situation today," he said, referring to the vote that forced him to appear. Similarly, the spokesperson for MÁS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, said he "agrees with the fact that any political representative should appear to explain how they are doing and where they want to go."

The PP: "Vox is putting pressure on us with the PSIB"

"Vox, which yesterday criticized us for being willing to meet with the PSIB, has today conspired to trap us," lamented PP deputy spokesperson Marga Durán, who justified her vote against the proposal because Costa's appearance "is neither urgent nor necessary." Costa will give his explanation to the Parliament on November 18.
