Cucorba says goodbye to the stages with a great tribute in Inca

IncaCucorba has put an end to almost five decades of trajectory with a tribute concert at the Plaça Mallorca in Inca. The event, organized by the Obra Cultural Balear (OCB), brought together on Saturday evening the current members of the group with former members and a wide representation of musicians from the Majorcan scene.

The square filled up to bid farewell to a group that has provided music for several generations of children in Mallorca. Cucorba's songs have played for decades in schools, squares, parties, and homes, and the group has combined music with theater and entertainment to bring popular culture and the Catalan language to the little ones.

In the concert, titled 'Thank you, Cucorba!', Gemma Palà, Gabriel Gamundí, and Francesc Aguiló, the current members of the group, participated. Former members of the group and guest artists also took the stage to perform some of Cucorba's most well-known songs.

Among the musicians who participated in the tribute were Juanjo Monserrat, Toni Colomar, Marta Elka, Miquel Brunet, Josep Joan Umbert, Julià Picornell, Kake Portas, Natalia Tascón, the Martorell brothers, Tiu, Pau Franch and Miquel Àngel Oñate, among others.

During the evening, the OCB also wanted to recognize the group's trajectory with a special detail. The president of the entity, Antoni Llabrés, accompanied by a group of children, presented the members of Cucorba with siurells featuring the figures of the group's members.

The tribute thus served to gather several generations linked to Cucorba on the same stage and remember the footprint of a group that has been part of the childhood of many Mallorcans. The OCB had already recognized the group in 2023 with the Aina Moll award of the 31st of December Awards for its trajectory and its contribution to the dissemination of music, games and folk tales among children.
