PalmaThe current first vice-president and Minister of Culture will be number two on the list for the Congress of Deputies, which will be headed by José Vicente Marí Bosó. As ARA Balears has learned, contacts have accelerated this Wednesday to find a woman to assume her responsibilities at the island institution.
The decision has already set in motion the movements to replace her in the island government of Llorenç Galmés. This Wednesday there have been meetings and contacts at the Council to look for a profile that can assume Roca's responsibilities and, therefore, her incorporation into the list is taken for granted.
Roca currently holds the first vice-presidency and directs the Department of Culture and Heritage, where she has taken relevant decisions regarding cultural policy and the protection of Mallorca's heritage.
According to the information that ARA Balears has been able to confirm, the search for a substitute has intensified during this morning, with meetings and internal movements to prepare for the succession. The name of the chosen person has not yet transpired, nor has whether the first vice-presidency and the Ministry of Culture will continue in the same hands.
A trusted leader of Prohens
Roca's appointment strengthens her weight within the Balearic PP and places her in a prominent position on the candidacy led by Marí Bosó, president of the PP of Ibiza and current deputy in Congress.
Roca is one of the leaders who have gained prominence within the party during this term. Marga Prohens entrusted her with the preparation of the political report for the last popular congress, a responsibility that placed her among the people in charge of defining the party's programmatic lines.
Roca's possible departure will affect a department that has been the protagonist of various controversies during the legislature. One of the most notable has been the elimination of nominative subsidies to the Obra Cultural Balear and to Joves per la Llengua from the 2026 budget, within the framework of the budgetary agreements between the PP and Vox.
The Department of Culture has also received criticism for the call for a position of Historical Heritage technician, after the Spanish Committee of Art Historians questioned the weight of specific knowledge in the test syllabus.
Roca's replacement will force the president of the Council, Llorenç Galmés, to decide who will assume the political direction of the department in the final stretch of the legislature. The will of the populars is to find a woman to occupy the place that the vice president will leave, although at the moment no name has been confirmed.
