MÉS for Palma denounces that at the Patrona single-use cups were used, thus breaching the law

PalmaMÉS per Palma denounced this Friday the alleged use of single-use cups during the Patrona festival, organized by the Palma City Council, and demands that the municipal government explain whether the containers used complied with current regulations. The party has registered a request for information to find out what type of cups were used, the cost, the collection system, and the measures adopted to prevent waste.

Municipal spokesperson Neus Truyol explained that they are not just talking about cups, but about the environmental responsibility of a public administration. "We are talking about whether the City Council complies with the same rules that it demands citizens, companies, and entities to comply with," she stated.

As she recalled, the regulations establish that alternatives to single-use cups must be used at public events. "You cannot ask for environmental responsibility from the public while institutions continue to act as if resources were infinite and waste disappeared by magic," she affirmed.
