Elderly woman rescued after spending 24 hours immobilized on the floor

PalmaAn elderly woman who had been immobilized lying on the floor at her home for 24 hours after suffering a fall in Rafal Nou has been rescued by the Local Police.

As reported by the City Council this Monday, the alarm was raised by a neighbor in the victim's building early Saturday morning, after hearing faint cries for help whose origin she could not identify.

A patrol was dispatched urgently to the scene to begin the search, a task that was made difficult by the building's structure, which has six floors and several entrances connected by an interior courtyard. The officers began a door-to-door search and interviewed several residents until focusing their suspicions on a first-floor apartment where strange noises could be heard, but no one was answering the doorbell.

A neighbor confirmed to the patrol that an elderly person lived in that home whom she had not seen in the last few days.

Faced with the suspicion of a life-threatening emergency, an officer managed to access the balcony of the affected home through the neighbor's apartment and opened the shutter. Inside the home, the police found the woman lying in the bedroom with severe hip pain that had prevented her from reaching the phone since the previous morning, the moment she fell.

The officers provided her with initial care until an ambulance arrived, which transported her to Son Llàtzer, while family members took charge of the apartment.
