PalmPalma's Municipal Transport Company (EMT) has begun testing the new bank card payment system on its buses, as part of the fare and technological integration process with the Mallorca Transport Consortium (CTM), as outlined in the agreement signed in November 2024.

As a result of this integration, EMT has begun installing the new validation software in its vehicles, which allows payment by bank card, as can be done in the rest of the TIB system services (train, metro and intercity bus).

Currently, the system is already operational on approximately half of the fleet, which equates to about 134 buses. On these vehicles, passengers can pay for their tickets with either cash or bank card. Furthermore, those who choose to pay by card can benefit from discounts of 40% for the first passenger and up to 60% for accompanying passengers, in groups of up to six people.

The implementation of the new system will be carried out progressively and it is planned that, by the end of March 2026, all EMT buses will be equipped with this technology.

10-trip tickets will no longer be valid this Thursday.

For this reason, from Thursday, January 29, the 10-trip tickets, single urban trip tickets and specific tickets for the airport and port, included in this prepaid format, will no longer be valid on all EMT buses in Palma.

Users with unused travel on these tickets can request a refund at the EMT Palma Customer Service office, without prior appointment, until July 31, 2026.

It is also worth remembering that all buses currently allow access with the Single Card, Intermodal Card or Citizen Card, the latter being valid until the end of March 2026.

Those who hold any of these tickets will be able to travel for free throughout 2026, as outlined in the EMT budget and announced by the central government.

The integration of bank card payments is now fully operational on lines such as the A1 line, which connects to the airport, and represents an improvement in access to public transport for occasional users, visitors or people who do not have transport tickets.
