PalmMore than half a ton of debris has been removed from the seabed of Cala Figuera as part of the Virgen del Carmen Festival. The Santanyí City Council announced that this Saturday the port of Cala Figuera hosted a new edition of the annual cleanup of the seabed and coastline held in conjunction with the Virgen del Carmen Festival.

The activity, organized by Ocean Charter Mallorca in collaboration with the Santanyí City Council, Civil Protection, Semdesa, and the Ports of the Balearic Islands, has resulted in the removal of between 500 and 600 kilos of debris from the water and the surrounding area of the pier. The Mayor of Santanyí, Maria Pons, emphasized "the importance of preserving the marine environment and raising awareness about the need for everyone to keep it clean." She also wanted to "thank everyone who made it possible."

Santanyí City Council echoes the Mayor's words of gratitude for the involvement of all the volunteers and participating organizations, who have once again made this environmental initiative possible.
