Social organizations demand more resources and coordination in the reception of migrants in the Islands.
The organizations have recalled the serious humanitarian situation experienced by people arriving on the islands by boat.

PalmThe entities and professional associations that work with migrants in the Balearic Islands read a statement this Friday in which they express their concern about the institutional response to the irregular arrival of migrants by sea and the redistribution of unaccompanied foreign minors in Spain.
At the event, where representatives of each of the entities that drafted the statement read a section, they expressed their concern about the serious humanitarian situation experienced by people arriving in the islands by boat, fleeing from contexts of violence, extreme poverty, and human rights violations. They also highlighted the rescue, reception, and assistance provided, especially in recent months.
Thus, the UIB Migration Observatory, the Colleges of Social Work, Social Educators, and Lawyers, the EAPN network, the Coordinator of NGOs for Development, and the Immigrant and Balearic Islands platforms (Acollim) have demanded a coordinated, humanitarian, effective, and dignified response for both the accompanied individuals expected to be referred from other autonomous communities and an essential expansion of resources and spaces to be able to care for these individuals, always from a human rights perspective and setting aside the confrontation and disqualification that some political representatives have recently demonstrated.
The organizations have made themselves available to the authorities to actively contribute to the search for solutions that guarantee a dignified welcome and adequate and supportive support for the arrivals. They have called for the urgent convening of the Advisory Council for the Integration of Immigrants in the Balearic Islands as a forum for discussion and consensus on appropriate measures.
