PalmaThe Diocese of Mallorca and Caritas Diocesana have launched an emergency campaign to support the population affected by the earthquakes that have shaken Venezuela. The initiative calls for the solidarity of Mallorcan society to help the thousands of families who have lost relatives, homes, and livelihoods.

As reported by the Diocese in a statement, Caritas Venezuela has activated its emergency response network from the outset and has set up a national aid collection center at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference to channel humanitarian assistance.

Caritas Española has allocated an initial sum of 300,000 euros from its emergency program to cover the most urgent needs of the affected population, while also launching the "Caritas with Venezuela" campaign.

In Mallorca, Caritas Diocesana has opened a specific channel to facilitate contributions from individuals, companies, and institutions wishing to collaborate with the humanitarian response. Donations can be made by bank transfer, Bizum, and through the entity's web portal.

Beyond financial aid, Caritas Mallorca is also working these days to offer support to the Venezuelan community residing on the island. In this regard, the entity's team of psychologists is preparing to activate a support group to offer initial emergency psychological care to people who have not yet heard from their relatives in the affected areas.

The Bishop of Mallorca, Sebastià Taltavull, has been in contact with the Venezuelan priest Albert José Marchán, who is currently accompanying the Venezuelan community residing in Mallorca.

Furthermore, the Diocese and Caritas have invited all parishes and the faithful of the diocese to unite in prayer for the victims, their families, and all those involved in rescue and care efforts for the affected.

With this campaign, the Church of Mallorca wishes to express its closeness to the Venezuelan people and channel Mallorcan solidarity so that aid reaches those affected as soon as possible.
