PalmThe P funicularMajor Uig It was a project by the engineer Antoni Parietti that was interrupted by the Civil War. Now, the only vestige of this unfinished plan – the base of the funicular, located on the Calobra road – has been vandalized with graffiti. This funicular line, which was supposed to connect the top of the highest mountain in the Balearic Islands with the Cals Reis area, was never built.

The graffiti, in black and white on a blue and white background, shows the letters 'F', 'C' and 'H' and is located on one side of the dry stone wall at the base. On either side of these large letters, there are scribbled what appear to be two tags –the authors' quick signatures– which read 'Block 9A' and 'W19 HFA'.

The engineer Antoni Parietti i Coll (Palma, 1899–1979) designed the iconic roads to Cape Formentor and Calobra, designed in the 1920s and 1930s. These routes lead to two of the island's main tourist attractions.

His greatest dream, however, was to make Puig Major accessible via a funicular from Cals Reis. The project called for the construction of a restaurant and a snow sports center at Mallorca's highest point.

The Civil War halted the work, and at the end of the conflict, Parietti tried—unsuccessfully—to find funding to restart it. Today, only the base remains, now damaged by vandalism.
